Meet Our Coaches!

Sean

Sean has been Head Coach at Pocklington Tennis Academy since 2017 and heads up our adult and junior programme. Prior to his arrival at the club he spent 2 years coaching at the Annabel Croft Tennis Academy in the Algarve, Portugal.

With an LTA player rating of 1.1, Sean’s experience playing at a high level as a junior led him into coaching at a young age.  As a junior, Sean was the Yorkshire U18s singles and doubles champion, and ranked in the top 10 in the UK.  He continues to compete at a high level, but his main focus is on growing the coaching programme.

Alongside coaching, Sean plays for the clubs 1st team in the Driffield League.  He holds an LTA Level 3 Qualification and his main focus is to help players enjoy and improve their tennis.

Seans’ enthusiasm and passion for tennis can be clearly seen throughout the adult and junior sessions he coaches. He has an outstanding ability to engage with juniors, enabling them to stay motivated and focused throughout his sessions. Both the junior and adult programmes remain ever growing and extremely popular.

In 2021, Sean won the very well deserved award for “Yorkshire Development Coach of the Year” This was for his ongoing commitments to the club and the juniors he coaches.

Annie

Annie is an LTA Level 2 Tennis Coach who also volunteers as the club’s junior co-ordinator and sits on the club’s committee.

Annie supports Sean to organise the junior side of the programme, and is a key part of the clubs coaching staff. She leads a variety of junior sessions, and provides additional help to Sean in the delivery of our adult coaching and cardio sessions. She is also a key part of our holiday camp programme, where she leads our mini age groups, and helps to ensure all our juniors have a smile on their face when they leave the club!

Annie heads up our social media and marketing, creating various posts and flyers to ensure we bring in as many new juniors and adults as possible!

Annie regularly attends group coaching sessions and 1-2-1 lessons, and is a key part of our Mixed & Ladies 1st teams in the Driffield League. Annie is a very enthusiastic part of the team – her energy and commitment helps keep children on the programme engaged and happy on court.

Jack

Jack has been part of our coaching team since 2018. Since starting at Pocklington Tennis Academy, Jacks main focus has been with the junior academy side of the programme. His passion is there to be seen in all of his sessions, with his energy and positivity transferring to all of the players he teaches.

More recently, Jack has expanded his coaching to include adult groups, incorporating cardio and Xpress Tennis along with private lessons. He has recently acquired his Level 4 LTA Tennis Coaching Qualification, which has helped him to increase his knowledge of the game, and ensure the coaching he provides to our adults and juniors is of the highest level!

Accompanied with his coaching, Jack plays to a high level competing in many tournaments. He also plays for the clubs men’s 1st team in the Driffield League.

Rob

Rob has been with us for a few years now, and brings a wealth of experience to our adult coaching programme. He runs various doubles coaching sessions aimed at improving and educating our adults on their doubles game.

Rob has been coaching for many years, including in America, and also works at David Lloyd. He holds a Level 4 LTA Tennis Coaching Qualification. Rob was the coach of Sean as a junior, so it’s fantastic to now see them both working alongside each other delivering quality sessions for our players.

Stephen, Finn & Max

All 3 of these boys have developed through our junior coaching programme to become key assets in our mini coaching sessions and camps. Their enthusiasm, attitude, and good sense of humor ensure they help assist our leading coaches to provide an organised and well run session. They all hold a Level 1 LTA Assistant Qualification, and at some point, may look to carry out their level 2 qualification.

We also have a variety of keen juniors who help assist with our programme and camps. This ensures we always have a good child to coach ratio, together with different personalities to suit all the various children we coach.
