Pocklington is a classic English market town at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, 15 miles from the city of York, in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The Tennis Club was established at its present site in 1921 (check out our Old Day’s photo gallery) and has grown into the area’s premier tennis club as an LTA registered venue. Its quiet site with off road parking has six all-weather courts and a recently re-built clubhouse with toilet facilities and changing area.
We have floodlights installed on four of the six courts and an electronic gated entry system which allows us to offer an online pay-to-play option for non-members. Both members and non-members can book courts online.
But the club is so much more than its facilities – it is the members that make the real difference.
With around 100 adults, the club supports teams throughout the Driffield Lawn Tennis League as well as teams in the Ladies Fulford Invitation League, York Men’s Tyke League. We also have a number of junior teams and a thriving Junior Section.
If competitive tennis isn’t for you, the club offers regular social tennis sessions that allow for all different types of people, with varying ability levels, to get together and have a friendly game.
Other recent social occasions have included a Beer Festival, Bonfire Night Celebration, and a Tennis Open Day.
We’re always happy to welcome new members to our West Green base – but don’t take my word for it, get in touch and we can invite you along to see for yourself.
Then & now… The club in the 1990s before undergoing major renovation to make it the wonderful facilitiy it is today.
